Life has been keeping us busy. It seems that we've had so many library videos to try to get through we haven't had time to get back to our book on tapes. I miss that because it is something we usually do as a family and I value family time.
Anyway, today was able to finish up #6 in the Left Behind series: ASSASSINS, Assignment: Jerusalem, Target: Antichrist. The middle part lagged for me but by the time I was at the end I was kicking myself for not having #7 ready. So I'm about to head to the library website and put it on hold and hope it comes in sooner rather than later.

We finished the 3rd volume in the Left Behind Series. We're still repeating the part. I believe the last time we did the series we stopped in the middle of the next book so I'm really hoping it will come in from our library hold soon.

We are moving full steam ahead with this series. We recently finished Tribulation Force (Book 2 of the series) and I've placed a hold for the third book. I wanted to complete the series by Summer and it looks like I'm going to meet that goal.
I'm finding this series well written and suspenseful (even though I'm still on the parts I've done before). It makes me want to catch up and get to the stuff that is new to me. I also must admit even though this is fiction it has given me new things to study in the Bible.

If you plan to do the Book On CDs, know that they are each a bit over 1 hour. I truly believe that it was well written to be thought provoking for both Christians and non-Christians.
Here is also the information from the back of the case:
Left Behind
A Novel of the Earth's Last Days
#1 in the Left Behind
What would happen if millions of people around the world suddenly disappeared one day? In this fascinating apocalyptic thriller, best-selling Christian inspirational authors LaHaye and Jenkins pool their considerable talents to answer that question. Narrator Richard Ferrone's unusually deep and hypnotic voice will keep you right in the middle of this not-unimaginable end of the world nightmare.
Pilot Rayford Steele is contemplating adultery with a young flight attendant when over 100 of his passengers simply vanish, leaving vacated clothes and bewildered companions. Rayford and the others left behind must deal with mass chaos on top of personal loss.
Among the passengers still left is star reporter Cameron "Buck" Williams, who just got the assignment of a lifetime: find out what happened and why. Theories abound, from Christian Rapture to alien abduction. Buck suspects secret meetings between international power brokers are somehow connected. And rising political icon Nicolae Carpathia seems to be at the center of it all.

Our new CD/Cassette player arrived yesterday so we're starting back with our daily CD. I'll have to check the library records to make sure this isn't due soon. If so we'll double up. It's good to be back on track. Finishing up CD #6 today

So far we're still on the first series. We finished the 5th CD yesterday. Unfortunately, our CD player seemed to be finish with us - no matter what it reads that there is "no disc" inside. I did get to order another one from Circuit City yesterday since I had a gift card. Fortunately this morning I did get notification that it has been shipped. That's great news since I don't want to mess up our routine and a portable one works for us since we can utilize it in various rooms. Hope to be able to get back to our routine by the end of the week.
One other option is another portable player we had but that one tends to be moody. Sometimes it just chooses to stop playing a CD after 3 or 4 tracks.

Last night we started listening to OUR MISS BROOKS COLLECTION. We are still listening to the Left Behind series too (finished 5th CD yesterday) but our CD player decided that it was ready to stop working so now we are listening to this cassette collection
I've never heard an Our Miss Brooks broadcast but I'm really enjoying it. It is nice hearing old radio shows because they also include the old commercials. I am not sure what search we did at the library to get this series but I am glad we did.
So far we've listened to 2 episodes - 1 last night and 1 this morning:
The Surprise Party 30:00
The Football Game 29:50
-OldSchool

Today we finished the 4th CD. We plan on listening to one CD a day (excluding weekends) I think it is a nice pace for us. There is still reading going on but this series we will listen to as a family.
I'm enjoying the story as much as I did the first time and it is also something that we can discuss later.

We started (or maybe I should say re-started) the series again. We are working off of BOCD since it fits better with our time. We hope to do 1 CD each day. So it should take about 2 weeks. Right now this is review. I believe we left off at the 4th or 5th installment in the series.

Well I finally feel like I am truly starting my quest to finish the entire Left Behind Series this year. I must admit I will mostly use audiobooks. I just finished putting a book on tape and a book on cd of the series on hold.
I'm not sure what area everyone is in but here in Los Angeles we have a huge library system. Two of them Los Angeles Public Library and County of Los Angeles Public Library lets you put holds online for free. They will mail, call or email you when the item comes in. This helps a lot when you don't have a lot of time to spend in the library or you have a bunch of little ones and don't want to spend all day there. Once the item comes in you usually have 10 days to pick the items up. We try to go once a week. It helps us have a schedule and we keep better track of our due dates since we know they will be due every ___day", etc.
Anyway, I can't say enough about utilizing your library system. If you haven't gone in a while - GO! Don't complain about what your library doesn't have if you aren't there to let them know what you need

I've been thinking about trying to complete the Left Behind series on Book on Tape. I first tried about 6 years ago and we got through about 3-4. I was using the library as a resource and it seemed like it took forever to get them, but I really enjoyed the series and wanted to see what happens next. I believe I would start at episode 1 again. I'll let you know how it turns out. But I am making that a goal - to complete the series in 2008.
Off to see if I can put a library hold on tape 1. I'm hoping now that it isn't "new" there will not be a backlog on holds
