"That woman is controlling enough to be a Democrat, but at the same time as devious as any Republican you could hope to meet." - from Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Crime by Tamar Myers

“I look at these people and can't quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention? To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
- Author David Sedaris, on undecided voters

FREE; no tickets or reservations required

PLEASE NOTE: This is a free event; tickets are not required. Preferred admission tickets will be available from Vroman's Bookstore and to certain members of the Caltech community, but at least 500 seats will be available on a first-come, first-seated basis with no ticket required.
Caltech and Vroman's Bookstore are excited to present Christopher Paolini and the third book in his Inheritance series entitled Brisingr. The first book in the series, Eragon, written when Paolini was only 15, became a major motion picture. It was followed by Eldest, and now Brisingr.
Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.
Event Details: Christopher Paolini's visit to campus will consist of brief remarks, followed by about 15 minutes of question-and-answer, and an on-stage book-signing. He will sign one copy of Brisingr and one backlist title per person only. Please note that no photographs will be allowed during the talk or book-signing.

You know I believe I said it before but it bears repeating - I HATE ABRIDGED Tapes.
I thought I would give one a try this week and I barely made it through. Maybe it works for non-fiction, but for fiction books I can not see myself ever listening to an abridged tape again.

The last 2-3 books I had to force myself to finish. I just don't think they were written well. I'm currently in the middle of Impeachable Offense which is Left Behind related. I'm liking it pretty well.
Anyway just updating on my reading
